Careers and other opportunities:

KCRC offers various opportunities to individuals and other organizations both within and outside of Uganda. Such opportunities include Volunteering, Research, Fellowship, employment, etc.

Volunteering:

KCRC welcomes people who would like to volunteer. The areas of volunteerism include: medical professionals, HIV/AIDS counselling, community/social work, and data management.

Research:

KCRC experience in HIV/AIDS work has made it become a fertile ground for research to both individuals and organizations. Over the years KCRC has had important research partnerships with other organizations to add on the body of knowledge in HIV/AIDS management. We also welcome students and individuals who would like to do research at KCRC.

Employment opportunities.

KCRC has built up a workforce of over 80 staff and volunteers. Time and again KCRC recruits competent professionals to fill in vacant positions and new ones. Current employment opportunities at KCRC:

Study Co-ordinator

KCRC is currently looking for a Study Co-ordinator to co-ordinate the on-going Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) Study. Reporting to the Principal Investigator, the Study Co-ordniator will have the following key duties and responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the smooth functioning of the research project, co-ordination, and communication with regulatory boards
  • Assisting investigators with implementation of study protocol, planning, and problem-solving, adverse event monitoring, and data management
  • Responsible for overall coordination and monitoring staff performance of the various functions of the study
  • Supervises staff and ensures that they achieve the aims and objectives of the study as indicated in the protocol
  • Responsible for outreach aclivities, sensitizing the community, and liaising with the Community Advisory Board
  • Ensures submission of all study progress and performance reports to the principal investigators
  • To oversee the study pharmacy, study product randomization system, and inventory of study product
  • Responsible for study specific clinical procedures, overall supervision of the clinic staff
  • Supervision of other key study staff like Data coordinator, IT Specialist, Fiscal Administrator, Drivers, etc
  • Participates in the development and control of budgets in accordance with financial guidelines

The desired candidate should be:
  • Fluent in English with Excellent writing skills
  • Fluent in Runyankore-Rjkiiga, Luganda and other Bantu local dialects
  • Be able to handle confidential, highly sensitive data
  • Demonstrate sensitivity towards people living with HIV/AIDS and their family members
  • Have experience in computer with some data management skills
  • Have experience in research and in-depth knowledge of HIV/AIDS
  • Have a Bachelors degree in Medicine
  • Have a Masters degree in Epidemiology, Public Health or Health Services Management
