KCRC Clinic:

The KCRC clinic has been established as a fully operational care centre and research facility offering professional treatment to people of all ages and different diseases. Treatment services are provided by a group of six full time Medical Doctors and Clinical Officers under the supervision of a Lead Physician. The clinic also has a total of 12 nurses and nurse counsellors under the supervision of two Clinic Managers. The Clinic Managers are responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the essential patient care functions of the Facility.

The Center comprises of several clinics in different buildings. The building known as the Upper KCRC building is situated on one side of the main road. This building houses the ART clinic, where outpatient ARV patients are seen. The Lower KCRC building is situated on the other side of the main road opposite the main Upper KCRC building. The other buildings are known as the Partners (Abakundaine) Clinic and are dedicated to research.

Brief desciption of the clinics:

  1. KCRC Lower Clinic: This clinic is served by 4 Medical Doctors, 6 Clinical Offices, and over 5 oncall consultants of different specialties. The Clinic operates 24 hrs a day on both in-patient and out-patient basis. It’s complimented by KCRC out-Patient Clinic. This clinic has 2 general wards and 10 self contained private rooms. The clinic has a fully fledged laboratory unit, an radiology center with an Ultra Sound Scanner and X-Ray machine, a minor theatre, dental/oral surgery unit, a pharmacy, and other specialised units in addition to those in the other KCRC clinics.

  2. KCRC Upper Clinic: Specialising mainly in HIV Treatment and Care, this clinic is served by 4 Full time Medical Doctors, 4 Clinical Officers, and over 5 nurses. The Clinic operates 12 hrs a day on Outpatient basis. It’s also complimented by KCRC In-Patient Clinic. In this clinic outpatient ARV patients are seen daily. The clinic has a pharmacy, chemistry lab, microbiology and hematology laboratories, offices for clinical officers, an X-ray and ultrasound rooms, as well as counseling offices.

  4. KCRC Partners (Abakundaine) Clinic: The Partners clinic consists of 8 counselling rooms, 4 clinician's rooms, 4 data rooms, 3 community outreach offices, and a big laboratory area. Specialising mainly on clinical research studies among HIV discordant couples, this clinic is headed by a Clinic Manager. The Clinic Manager Mrs. Edna Tindimwebwa is a qualified clinical officer, she has been involved in HIV/AIDS programs for over six years and holds different certificates including Certification in HIV Prevention Counseling, a TOT certificate in HIV Preventive Basic Care Package, Certificate in Integrated infant and young child feeding counseling, and a certificate of participation in Good Clinical Practices training (GCP). The Partners Clinic is also served by 4 Medical Doctors, 5 Nurse counsellors, 2 Clinical Officers, 2 pharmacists, 5 laboratory personnel, 3 data managers, and 4 community outreach officers.
