KCRC Team:
KCRC is headed by a Medical Director who oversees the day to day operations of the centre assisted by a Finance and Administration Manager, and Medical officers in charge of various units/clinics of KCRC.
KCRC Medical Director - Dr. Twesigye Rogers (MBcHB, MPH)

Dr. Twesigye Rogers
Dr. Rogers Twesigye is a Medical Doctor and a Public Health Specialist. He is currently the Medical Director of Kabwohe Clinical Research Center (KCRC) in Bushenyi, Uganda. He previously worked as a Senior Medical Officer as well as a Project coordinator with Medical Research Council in Entebbe. He had his graduate training from Makerere University where he obtained a Masters Degree in Public Health (2005).
Rogers Twesigye is a dedicated and highly skilled Medical doctor who focuses on the quality of work at all times. He is particularly interested in working with the multi-disciplinary team of professionals working to improve the quality, utilization and sustainability of the services in the three integrated sectors: Health, Education, and HIV/AIDS.
Rogers Twesigye has a vast experience in writing research projects, implementation, coordination and report writing. He is currently coordinating a phase III study entitled “Parallel Comparison of Tenofovir and Emtricitabine/Tenofovir Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis to Prevent HIV-1 Acquisition within HIV-1 Discordant Couples.
Site Investigator - Dr. Asiimwe Stephen (MBcHB, MPH)

Dr. Asiimwe Stephen
Dr. Stephen Asiimwe (MBChB, MS) is a physician and epidemiologist. He is currently an investigator at Kabwohe Clinical Research Center (KCRC) in Bushenyi, Uganda. He previously worked as a Study Co-ordinator for the Partners PrEP study at KCRC, Senior Medical Officer with Bushenyi District Directorate of Health where he served in the District Hospital, led two Health Sub-Districts as well as the District Health Office. He is currently pursuing a doctorate in public health at the University of Georgia in USA. He had his graduate training from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio USA where he obtained a Masters Degree in Epidemiology and Biostatistics (2006). Prior to this, Stephen pioneered the first ever 2 year PMTCT project in Bushenyi District where he worked as Project Manager. This turned out to be the best performing PMTCT program in Uganda scaling up rapidly to health center level III. More than 27,000 women accessed PMTCT services under this 2 year initiative which has now scaled up to cover 52 units from the original 15. He has successfully evaluated the recently Integrated Community Based Initiatives (ICOBI) led full access door to door home based VCT project in Bushenyi. Some of these findings have been presented in various scientific meetings in Kampala, Rwanda, Kenya, Australia and USA. He is currently the Principal Investigator for the Partners Demo Project at KCRC in addition to other clinical duties at the center. He has more than 10 years of HIV project and research experience as well as wide exposure to District and National Health systems.
KCRC Lead Physician - Dr. Mugume Francis (MBChB)

Dr. Mugume Francis
Dr Mugume Francis is a Medical Doctor. He is currently the Lead study physician of Kabwohe Clinical Research Center (KCRC). He previously worked as Assistant District Health Officer in charge of health Sub-District/Health Centre IV as well as Medical Superintendent of Kilembe Mines Hospital-involved in both clinical care and management.
He had his graduate training from Makerere University where he obtained a Bachelor of medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBchB) 1997 and he has had vast trainings especially in HIV/AIDS ever since and He has attended a number of management courses. He is self-motivated and particularly interested in working with the multi-disciplinary team of professionals working to improve the quality, utilization and sustainability of the services in Health sector with accordable public relations.
Dr Mugume Francis has a vast experience in district and hospital health services and care. He has been a member of technical district planning and HIV/AIDS committees. He has been involved in implementation, coordination of health activities and report writing.
He is a member of Ministry of health –Uganda and posted to Kabwohe Clinical Research centre under collaboration of public-private partnership.
KCRC Finance and Administration Manager - Mr. Musoke Lawrence (B.Com, CPA)

Mr. Musoke Lawrence
Mr. Musoke Lawrence is currently the KCRC Finance and Administration Manager. He has worked as an Acoountant for a number of organizations including THETA and Uganda Land Alliance, and also worked as an Audit Assitant for Kwick Waks Certified Public Accountants. He is responsible for the overall financial and human resource management of KCRC.
He is also responsible to providing information, technical support, and advice to the center in all HR and finance related matters and coordinate such activities.The Manager also ensures sound budgetary processes and analyses, financial management, and planning.
